Jan 21st 7:21AMHi All
Junior Cricket is due to commence again post-Christmas break.
Under 12s, Fast 9s and Super 7s will recommence training next Monday night 27th January at 4.30pm as usual. I know Monday is a public holiday, but we have limited options to change for one week. Most kids I know are starting school within a couple of days from there so there should be a number of players available to train. Try and make it if you can and be prepared to help out as I am not sure how many Coaches will be available.
Games for these groups will recommence Friday 31st January and Saturday 1st February.
Girls Team, under 14s and 16s will recommence training on Thursday 30th January as usual with games scheduled for Friday 31st January. Girls Team does not start playing again until February 5th.
There is basically only a month of games to go for this season, so make the most of it.
Look forward to seeing everyone again.
Regards
Steve
Welcome Message from the President
Aug 30th 10:34AMHello everyone – I hope you are all keeping well and eagerly awaiting the start of what promises to be, a great year of cricket! As we move into the back half of winter, and start to get the itch for warmer weather, I would like to officially welcome everyone to the start of the 24/25 season at Doncaster Cricket Club.
Since the closure of the 23/24 season, our committee has been working hard to build the foundation for what we plan to be a defining season for the Doncaster Cricket Club.
Post our AGM, we identified a number of improvements which we are working to create and will communicate over the coming weeks. We believe these will help to foster an improved structure and operating model within our club and we are excited to share these as the season approaches.
Firstly, I would like to thank Michael Karageorgiou and Michael McCormack for all their hard work over the last few years in their respective positions as honorary secretary and club treasurer. Both Michael’s will remain heavily involved with the club, moving into new roles within our structure to help the club operate more effectively. We welcome Christian Westgarth as treasurer and Brent Gittus as secretary for the coming season. Both have already started to work tirelessly to make sure we are ready to go for the new season.
Secondly, we are pleased to announce that Zac Slattery will saddle up for year number two as Captain of our 1st XI. We are thrilled to have someone of Zac’s calibre leading us on match day, and look forward to welcoming Zac back at Leeds St for 2024/25.
Zac will be well supported by our newly appointed coach, Grant Hanson. Grant is no stranger Doncaster over the past few years, and has quickly created a home at Leeds st, with his infectious laugh and positive attitude. Grant’s ability to engage a group of people, coupled with his sharp cricket mindset, create a terrific formula for success in his new role as club couch and junior mentor. Grant is no stranger to coaching, with his son Blake being involved within our junior program, he has taken on various coaching roles amongst the junior teams over the past few seasons. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the game in the hope of guiding/helping Zac on and off the field relieving pressures that come with the positions.
With the preseason commencing, please stay tuned for any announcements that will be posted on our social media platforms by our newly established social media team. These will include:
1. Preseason training dates
2. Other player announcements
3. Changes to club policies
4. Preseason get-togethers and meet/greets.
I look forward to seeing everyone at pre-season. If you have any questions, please reach out!
Club Coach
